What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, also called mastopexy, is plastic surgery that removes excess skin, tightens breast tissue, and lifts the breasts into a better position to address sagging or drooping. The procedure aims to give your bust a fuller, more lifted appearance to fight the effects of aging, weight loss, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. Using state-of-the-art techniques, Dr. Brown has helped numerous patients like you achieve their goals and build new confidence in their bodies from our Tampa, FL, plastic surgery office.

Customizable Care Various Techniques for Breast Lift Surgery

There are various incision patterns and techniques for a breast lift. Our plastic surgeon, Dr. Joseph Brown, will determine which procedure is best for you based on:

  • Current shape and size of your breasts
  • Size and position of the areolas
  • Current degree of breast sagging
  • Amount of extra skin present
  • Quality and elasticity of the skin

What is the
Difference Between
Breast Augmentation,
Breast Reduction, and
a Breast Lift?

/

Breast augmentation increases the size of the breasts using breast implants, but the main goal of a breast lift is achieving better proportions and lifting the breasts. A breast lift can be performed in tandem with a breast augmentation. If you wish to reduce the size of your breasts, a breast reduction in combination with breast lift surgery can give you smaller, more shapely breasts.

How to Prepare For Your Breast Lift Procedure

Before surgery, you will have a preoperative visit with Dr. Brown and his team at our Tampa office to determine if you are a candidate for a breast lift. You will receive the necessary prescriptions along with the essential instructions for what to do before and after surgery. Some of the preparations include:

  • Scheduling a mammogram
  • Stopping smoking or vaping
  • Avoiding certain medications
  • Arranging for care during your recovery post-surgery
  • Being and maintaining a healthy weight

It is very important that you discuss any medical conditions you have as well as any medications or supplements you may be taking. This will help Dr. Brown ensure the safest possible surgery for you.

The Breast Lift Procedure

Each breast lift is a custom plastic surgery that is designed to address your specific aesthetic concerns. In some cases, a breast lift is combined with other surgical procedures, which can increase the time it takes to complete. On average, a mastopexy takes about two hours.
Dr. Brown never rushes while planning a procedure. The two of you will take all the time needed to discuss your concerns and ultimate goals in detail.

Day of Procedure

Dr. Brown never rushes while planning a procedure. The two of you will take all the time needed to discuss your concerns and ultimate goals in detail.

Anesthesia

During your procedure, you will receive general anesthesia or IV sedation depending on the agreed-upon treatment plan.

Incisions

Your plastic surgeon will begin the procedure by making incisions around the areolas and along the bottom crease of the breasts. The types of incisions will depend on your treatment plan.

Shape

Next, Dr. Brown will reshape and contour the breasts. Sometimes, tissue is removed to achieve the desired shape, especially if you are combining a breast lift with a breast reduction

Nipple Reposition

The nipples and areolas are repositioned to a more lifted, perkier position.

Sutures

Dr. Brown will then close the incisions with sutures.

Dr. Brown is amazing! He was the only consult I went too because I loved his work, I was dead set on him doing my breast reduction. Within seconds of meeting him, I knew I made the right choice. Dr. Brown took his time to answer all my questions and made me feel safe with the surgery. Samantha/Kaylee were a big help as well, always answered my texts/questions. The day of the surgery, I met the anesthesiologists and everyone that was going to be in the procedure room which I really appreciated. Im currently 6 weeks out and Im inlove with my results!!!! Thank you so much Dr. Brown for everything! ❤️

Dr. Brown, Angie, and Kaylee are the absolute best. From start to finish, I have never met more empathetic individuals. I went in for a consult in July and Dr. Brown was honest and so graciously empathetic from that first visit. He was truthful about what would be ideal for me and did not make me feel bad for have the faults that I knew I wanted to fix. Today marked my 6 week post-op and I could not be happier with my results. I am amazed at Dr. Brown's work and highly recommend anyone to visit their practice if you are looking for plastic surgery with a Board Certified Surgeon, a doctor before anything else, and a wonderful staff who is caring, kind, and honest. Thank you to the best team ever. <3
