THIGH LIFT

As the body experiences weight fluctuations, the skin relaxes and fatty tissue ends up deposited in areas all over our bodies. These problem areas can be challenging to manage even through proper diet and exercise. That’s why a thigh lift is a perfect solution for many patients. It allows you to achieve the body you deserve when diet and exercise are not enough.

At SynergyMD Plastic Surgery, we aim to help our patients achieve their aesthetic goals. With a range of procedures, we deliver results that can boost confidence in your body and self.

WHAT IS A THIGH LIFT?

It is common for the thigh to develop loose skin and fat quickly and easily. As fat builds up, you can encounter clothing restrictions and resistance to your legs being visible. Unfortunately, these pockets of fat and loose skin are stubborn. That is what a thigh lift tackles.

A thigh lift, or thighplasty, is a body contouring procedure that removes excess skin and fatty tissue from the upper legs. When done correctly, the result is a dramatic improvement in the appearance and silhouette of the thighs. Many patients who undergo massive weight loss or bariatric surgery seek this type of surgery and are happy with their postoperative results. In other words, a thigh lift helps you take those final steps to fully achieve your goals.

HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK?

The thigh lift is performed to enhance the looks of the inner or outer thigh. Each procedure will be customized to best achieve the goals you have set. For that reason, there are different variations of a thigh lift.

TYPES OF THIGH LIFT

The type of thigh lift used will depend on how much excess skin is present and its location. Dr. Brown will ensure he uses the technique best suited to your unique goals.

MEDIAL LIFTS

One popular thigh lift option is called the medial lift. A medial thigh lift focuses on the inner aspect of the upper thigh. Skin and fat are removed, and the scar is well hidden along the groin crease.

This helps to create a space between each thigh when standing in an upright position, particularly while wearing more form-fitted clothing. For that reason, many patients love it.

LONGER INCISION LIFTS

For patients who have more severe laxity along the thigh, a longer incision is needed to address skin lower on the thigh. In these instances, we remove skin from the entire circumference of the thigh to achieve an optimal effect. However, we still ensure the scar is concealed to the medial or “inner” aspect of the thighs.

COMBINATION LIFTS

Finally, for patients who have severe laxity in the inner and outer thighs, a medial thigh lift may be combined with an outer thigh lift. When done together, these procedures can remove large amounts of excess skin and elevate/tighten the skin around the entire thigh.

THIGH LIFT WITH LIPOSUCTION

Depending on the skin and tissue quality of the patient, liposuction may be a component of your procedure. Depending on your needs, it may be performed alone or in addition to skin excision to achieve the best possible contour during your thigh lift procedure. However, this is for removing stubborn pockets of fat rather than significant weight reduction.

IS A THIGH LIFT RIGHT FOR ME?

A thigh lift is a great procedure for patients who want to tone and slim the thigh area. It is best suited for patients who are at a stable weight and close to their ideal weight. While the procedure can remove stubborn pockets of fat, it is not a weight-loss procedure.

However, diet and exercise have limits to what they can do for your body. For that reason, a thigh lift is right for patients who need to take that final step to achieve their ideal body. Additionally, an ideal thigh light candidate will:

  • Be non-smoking
  • Have overall good health
  • Have healthy and realistic expectations

The first step to see if a thigh lift is right for you is to come in for a consultation. When you meet individually with Dr. Brown, he will discuss your goals and help you determine if this procedure is right for you. He works to fully tailor each procedure to best match every patient’s needs and goals.

THIGH LIFT RECOVERY

Each patient’s recovery process will depend on factors such as their age and current health. However, most patients can expect to take at least an initial two weeks of downtime. During this period, it is vital to avoid strenuous activity and allow your body to recovery. Dr. Brown will provide a full list of instructions to ensure your recovery is as speedy and efficient as possible.

After about a month to two months, you can begin resuming your daily activities. You should see your final results after a few months. If you have any questions or concerns during your recovery, contact us and we will provide information and assistance.
